It started out as a lockdown potting shed project as I had lost work & wanted to keep busy. It developed into a bar & pub garden (as well as still serving as the garden shed). It is made from about 80% reclaimed/ recycled materials...with a tin roof & ceramic dragon on top! Inside are all the usual tool storage facilities plus a folding bar prep area & drop down bar counter. Outside is a secluded pub garden with seating & a fire pit.
The shed became a life saver in terms of keeping me busy & focussed in a strange & unsettling time. My wife Hattie & son Finn both became involved in its creation & weve all enjoyed using the shed & secret garden since its completion. The name- The Dragons Rest- is an homage to my Welsh Dad who would have loved to sit by the fire pit & chat over a pint. The picture on the pub sign (painted by my wife) is inspired by a Tolkien illustration from the Hobbit- which my Dad would read to me at night when I was a little kid.
The materials were mostly left over from jobs, scavenged from skips & donated by friends. I re-used as much as I could & bought as little as possible.
