Our summerhouse shed is a children's Wendy House of dreams. It's a miniature studio apartment full of retro and vintage toys and children's furniture. There's a miniature kitchenette and eating area and a tiny bed and dolls cot.
The summerhouse was bought in pieces second hand off gumtree during the lockdowns of 2021. I built it with help from my dad who was my support bubble. I dug the foundations and filled them with rubble and reconstructed it and sanded and painted it all with a baby in a sling on my back and a toddler on the loose. We filled it with second hand finds from Gumtree or left in the street. We live near narrowboats and have been donated some vintage boat sales and spoons.It was an amazing project that kept us going through a really challenging time. It was exciting and incredibly educational for my 3 year old son. Now my children both love playing in it and because of the many windows I can give them a taste of independence by watching from a distance.
